Did you know ticks are currently the second most common infectious disease transmitter to both pets and people.

The main disease that can be spread by ticks in the UK is Lyme disease - a debilitating chronic infection caused by the bacteria.

Ticks can be predominantly found lurking in grassy areas, such as fields and meadows, which is where many dogs go for their daily walks.

This is Lyall, a three-year-old Siberian Husky, who likes nothing more than getting out on long walks.

When Lyall was brought in for an appointment with us at Veterinary Vision, we found three live ticks embedded in his skin around his right eye!

We would like to urge pet owners to check their pets after every walk and to speak to your vets about tick prevention and what you can do to reduce your risks.
